North County Transit District hired Jeff Hiott as its deputy chief operations officer of bus service and security, the agency announced in a press release.
Hiott began on April 14. He started in transportation as vice president of technical services and innovation at the American Public Transportation Association in Washington, D.C., where he spent 14 years. In that role, he oversaw zero-emission bus implementation, mobility as a service, fare payment, and transit technologies, according to the NCTD news release.
His previous role was as the senior vice president of operational transformation at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority.
“I’m honored to NCTD and contribute to a forward-thinking agency that prioritizes innovation, service reliability, and public safety,” Hiott said in a statement. “I look forward to working with the team to strengthen transit services for the region and the agency’s long-term vision.”
“Jeff’s contributions to this industry speak for themselves and can be seen by the communities that he has impacted and our industry on a national scale,” NCTD CEO Shawn M. Donaghy said in a statement. “On the doorstep of North County Transit – San Diego Railroad’s 50th anniversary, Jeff is the right choice to our incredible leadership team to help define what the next 50 years will be for our world-class agency.”
