Re “San Diego Civic Theatre getting a $7.5 million makeover” (April 22): It was not mentioned in your piece, but I hope the makeover includes the elimination of the hideous-looking giant billboards on the exterior of the theater.

They are a terrible eyesore on our civic front porch and should be removed. This is the best thing they can do to “upgrade this cultural icon.”
