Re “Sorry, La Jolla secessionists: This ship has sailed” (Feb. 27): The author writes, “The Children’s Pool is the habitat of sea lions and those animals take precedence over any human inconvenience.” For one thing, they aren’t sea lions — they’re harbor seals, and this is not their natural habitat. Ellen Browning Scripps built the Children’s Pool for the children of San Diego. Children who are no longer allowed to swim there. Marine mammal scientists at Scripps Institute, please take another look at this.
