Torrey Pines High School celebrated the 2025 senior wrestlers during their big win against Carlsbad High School (48-33) on Jan. 9. TPHS Wrestling Senior Night was dedicated to their late Coach Wes Lee Sr., an attorney who coached for 10 years at Torrey Pines. This was the last graduating class he coached before he ed away from cancer on July 16, 2022. Coach Wes became involved with TPHS wrestling when his son, Wesley, started his freshman year in 2008.
When Wesley graduated in 2012 Coach Wes became a volunteer coach to help with the freshmen and girls teams. For the past three years the team has honored Coach Wes with a scholarship under his name. His family presents this scholarship to a TPHS senior at the TPHS Scholarship Fund Awards Ceremony in May. (His son Wesley helps coach the team now.)
