One of Sportsplex USA Poway’s two soccer arenas is being named Target River Arena for the next two years as part of a naming-rights deal.

The Poway Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Sportsplex USA Poway on Oct. 29 to celebrate the official opening of Target River Arena. The agreement has been effective since Sept. 20, 2024.

The Sportsplex at 12349 McIvers Court will benefit from the agreement by using the undisclosed amount of funds to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the facility, said Sportsplex USA Marketing Director Chris Vertrees.

“The marketing team at Target River is dedicated to the businesses and communities throughout San Diego County,” said Vertrees of the company that provides marketing solutions to businesses, nonprofits, school districts, higher education institutions and government agencies. “They are actively pursuing opportunities to show their of healthy lifestyles and recreational youth and adult sports.”

In return, Target River’s services will be promoted to recreational sports players, league players and spectators. With more than 10,000 active adult players participating weekly in recreational leagues, and weekend tournaments that draw thousands of players, Sportsplex USA is a hub of community sports.

Brian Epperson, founder and CEO of Target River, said the company is a big fan of Sportsplex USA and the leagues they offer for people of all ages and skill levels.

“Target River is excited to be a partner in this naming opportunity and the impact it will help make for the thousands of participants,” Epperson said in a press release.

The Sportsplex sports complexes in Poway and Santee each feature three softball/baseball fields, two indoor soccer arenas, batting cages and an onsite sports restaurant serving draft beers and wine.

The other soccer arena at the Poway Sportsplex is named the Crumbl Cookies Arena, and the three softball/baseball fields are the Bill Howe Plumbing Field, the Sungenia Solar Field, and the Pedder Chrysler Dodge Ram Jeep Field.

“Target River’s demonstrates their strong commitment to the city of Poway and its residents,” Vertrees said.
