The Ramona Senior Center was gifted a beautiful shed from Montecito High School’s construction class in memory of Kim Lasley, a longtime trustee on the Ramona Unified School board.
Kim was also very involved at our Senior Center and had been on the Senior Center’s Board of Directors for several years, not only as a member but also as the president for some time. She was such a caring, giving, and comionate lady, and those at the Senior Center and Montecito High School and many others in our community got to experience all those beautiful things about her.
Kim always gave more than she would take and that is one of the things that made her so special.
Nick Jordan, the construction teacher at Montecito High reached out to me and said his construction class had built us a shed in honor of Kim. “Wow, she just keeps giving back,” I thought to myself. We will not only forever have a reminder of her every time we look at our storage shed but we now have some extra storage that we desperately needed.
We were faced with the task of how we would get it to our facility. I reached out to RBS Towing, and April Hoggard, the office manager, was so sweet to take all my information and get it to Marshall Closs, the owner. He was so generous and arranged to have it picked up and transported to us free of charge.
Duane Wollum, the driver for RBS, had his work cut out for him — he was amazing and made it happen. Last but not least, Piva Equipment Rental was nice enough to supply us with a forklift to finish the job.
I can’t thank all of these people and businesses in our wonderful community enough for coming together to make this happen.
